After working in skilled nursing facilities for several years, and seeing how many people were getting sick and suffering from many different chronic illnesses at a young age, I realized that many of these illnesses could have been prevented if the people had followed a proper diet and took better care of themselves. After doing a lot of my own research, I discovered that there is a flaw in traditional medicine, and that Western medicine doctors prescribe pills that really only get rid of the symptoms, and never actually fix what is causing the illness. Many of these illnesses are caused by people eating food that isn’t good for them or their bodies. And, much of our food supply is filled with chemicals and genetically modified ingredients that are causing illnesses such as cancer.
I decided I wanted to help people become aware of the positive and negative effects food has on their bodies, which lead me to go to school to be a holistic nutritionist and health coach so I could help others learn how to take better care of themselves, before they get to the point where they begin to develop chronic illnesses. I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing from this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
I have suffered from digestive problems all of my life, and never really felt well. I suffered from other symptoms such as “brain fog” and felt tired all of the time. This eventually caused me to gain 50 pounds, and no matter how much I exercised or how well I ate, the weight just would not come off. After years of experimenting on myself, I finally got my blood work done after my mom discovered that she was gluten and dairy intolerant and was diagnosed with leaky gut and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The bloodwork showed that I also had leaky gut and was intolerant to gluten, dairy, oats, and many other foods. After eliminating foods containing those ingredients, I finally started to feel better and lost weight. It was difficult, especially since my favorite food was cheese, but it was worth it to feel better!
One of my theories is that most people have some type of food intolerance that can affect them in a variety of ways. I also believe that most illnesses are caused by an improper diet, and many can be resolved by eating a clean diet that includes the foods that are right for your body.
